The Sonoma Design Collaboration

The Wolf & Horseshoe

The Idea: A Sonoma Design Collaborative featuring the Best of Sonoma County
Six years ago, Rusti and Martin decided it was time to move out of the Bay Area and embrace the country life. They stumbled on a gem of a house, their dream home – down a long country road right in the middle of Sonoma wine country. Being a 5 bedroom, 6 bath—it was way more than they were looking for in a home. However, being so far from their families, they both longed for a place where they could host friends and visitors and share their love for all things Northern California.

While they fell in love with the home and property, the house definitely needed a lot of help.  It was NOT a property for just anyone: a quirky, dark, slump-stone building, in dire need of updating…. with a bit of a confused and eclectic personality. A bit of a mixed bag—the house was not quite sure whether it was mid-century, Mexican villa or a country estate, and it was loaded with a very “hip” and obvious 70’s vibe.

Being an avid fan of great design, Rusti loves how a well curated home can truly reflect the personality of it’s dwellers…but can also truly make a home feel even more like home. In her free time, she can be found reading every design magazine possible, along with catching up on her favorite episodes on HGTV and DIY Network. Unfortunately, she found that while her imagination and creativity can run wild – trying to dream up, coordinate and manage the complexities and ins and outs of remodeling and design was just too much to manage while balancing a full time career.

Enter the Sonoma Design Collaboration. Rusti spotted an opportunity to do more than just re-decorate the house. In attempting to tackle the home makeover and get her projects and ideas up and running, she realized that trying to find the right designers, contractors and specialists to work with can actually be incredibly daunting. With her keen marketing and PR savvy, she realized she could help others that are looking for amazing design– by highlighting some of the best services that Sonoma has to offer, utilizing incredible and affordable items from some of our favorite local and national retailer, and simultaneously do good for the local community.

The Sonoma Design Collaboration kicked off on Feb 1, 2017 with the quick assembly of a team of amazing and talented Sonoma County based designers, industry mavericks and retail partners. She took two months off of work to coordinate the kick off of the extreme home renovation project and help some of Sonoma’s finest generate some buzz of their own. With the help of her creative and inspirational partners, Rusti and Martin are looking forward to having the Wolf & the Horseshoe soon reflect the fun, eclectic and global feel they want to share with their friends, family and guests.
